SENIOR PHILANTHROPIC ADVISOR
Position Purpose:
The Senior Philanthropic Advisor is a full-time, exempt position reporting directly to the Director of Donor Services.
Senior Philanthropic Advisor Functions:

Oversee grantmaking, gift cultivation, and engagement activities for a segment of donors, with a particular focus on donor-advised funds and supporting organizations

Support the overall goal that donors and MCF are engaged with each other in ways that maximize resources and expertise to meet community needs

Participate in and support fund development activities that involve current donors of MCF in order to increase the effectiveness, scope, and scale of their charitable giving, to the extent they so desire

Design, refine, and implement core programmatic approaches to engage donors around MCF’s programmatic Strategic Initiatives

Monitor and measure programmatic outcomes of engagement activities

Support efforts to build community knowledge that is accessible and effective for use by donors, with a particular emphasis on Marin County issues and nonprofits

Represent best practices for working with donors both within and outside of MCF

Work closely with colleagues in Program, Operations, and Marketing & Communications Departments to promote donor participation and engagement with other donors, MCF priorities, and MCF’s support of donor interests

Work effectively as a team member within the department and within the Foundation, helping to devise new ideas and strategies to help the Foundation achieve its overall objectives, especially in philanthropic giving, donor services, and family and community grantmaking

Other duties as assigned by the Vice President and or President of the Foundation to meet the needs of the Foundation.
Responsibility Level:
The Senior Philanthropic Advisor reports directly to the Director of Donor Services, who oversees all donor services and engagement activities of the Foundation.
Performance Standards:
The Senior Philanthropic Advisor will be evaluated on his/her ability to perform the essential functions of the position; the ability to utilize the skill qualifications described below; the ability to meet annual individual and departmental goals; the ability to complete projects and assigned tasks in an accurate, cooperative and timely manner; the ability to set realistic priorities; and the professionalism in interactions with staff, donors, and community members. The Senior Philanthropic Advisor will be evaluated by the Director of Donor Services.
Qualifications:
Experience and Education:
At least seven to ten years of proven success in working with high net worth individuals in a major institution.
B.A. degree, graduate degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills:

Strong knowledge of philanthropic giving vehicles and the various laws and regulations that affect them.

Excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent presentation and listening skills for multiple and diverse audiences; excellent interpersonal skills.

Ability to make well-reasoned decisions as part of a team in the best interests of the organization for the present and future, and the ability to work and plan collaboratively and effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds.

Strong strategic planning and implementation skills.

Grantmaking experience preferable.

High level of personal and professional integrity and ethics.

Self-motivated, creative, and having an appreciation of the role that philanthropy plays in building community.

Excellent ability to organize and prioritize daily work and long-term assignments.
Compensation:
Salary and benefits package is competitive and commensurate with background and experience. This is a full-time, exempt position.
